Inspired by the iconic Memovox Polaris, a fake watch that was initially produced between 1965 and 1968 and aimed at the USA market, Jaeger-LeCoultre now introduces the Polaris Date.
This fake watch is being launched exclusively for the US market until October 1st. Jaeger-LeCoultre speaks about a pre-launch, but I am not convinced you can talk about pre-launch when you're launching a new watch. Anyway, the fake watch will be available for the US market only at first, and then the rest of the world will follow. In total, there will be 800 pieces of this Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris DateAs you can see, Jaeger-LeCoultre used beautiful tones of blue for the dial. The dial consists of multiple parts with different finishing. What we love about it is the colour-change effect on the center dial from deep turquoise to a beautiful royal blue. Then, there's the dial (with numerals) that has been hand-lacquered, blue double-gradient with grain finishing. Besides the Polaris Date being a beautifully designed watch, the dial is the main attraction here. The faux-patina effect of the numerals (JLC calls this vanilla-tinted luminescent coating, so you know) looks great on the blue background. Not long ago, we wrote that the (limited edition) Memovox was our favourite pick of the Polaris line (here), but this new Polaris Date is pretty stunning as well. And, perhaps, a bit more sparkling. Where the clean look of the Polaris Memovox could end up in getting a little bored with the dark coloured dial, you surely won't be with this blue Polaris Date.
The case back of this 42mm steel sports fake watch shows a SCUBA diving insignia and the regular engraving procedure. Here is also where JLC indicates that this Polaris Date is a limited edition of 800 pieces. As Richemont Group brands (often) do, it shows 'one of xxx?instead of a unique number. We've covered this topic several times in the past, and we prefer a unique number.
This Polaris Date is water-resistant to 200 meters, and you can take it with you in the water because JLC attached a very nicely designed rubber strap for it.
Inside this watch, we find their caliber 899A/1 movement, with a power reserve of 38 hours. The fake watch has been put to the 1000 hours control test procedures and gives Jaeger-LeCoultre enough confidence to provide it with an 8 years warranty. To our knowledge, the longest warranty period in the fake watch industry on a series watch.
Price is $8,250USD, we will update the sheet below when the prices for Europe are communicated.
